Pilot Launch: Lower Manhattan (District 1)

Volunteer From Home. Strengthen NYC's Safety Net.

CityHelp is launching a pilot in Lower Manhattan (District 1) where residents can complete verified volunteer hours remotely by helping us keep service information accurate and up to date.

What you'll actually do

Verify Food Pantries

Call local food pantries to confirm hours, eligibility, and current availability.

Add New Community Resources

Surface new neighborhood programs that should be in CityHelp but aren't yet.

Translate Service Information

Help translate service details so neighbors can read them in their primary language.

Check Shelter Availability

Confirm which shelters are taking new intakes and what they require at the door.

Why this exists

Thousands of New Yorkers risk losing access to food assistance due to lack of accessible work placements. This program creates flexible, remote volunteer opportunities that both support residents and improve access to critical services across the city.
